چکیده

Abstract We construct the effective field theory appropriate for describing the low energy behavior of anisotropic Wilson lattice actions and the O(a) improved variant thereof. We then apply this effective field theory to the hadron spectrum and dispersion relations, focussing on the corrections due to the anisotropy. We point out an important feature of anisotropic lattices regarding the Aoki-regime; for a given set of fermion masses and spatial lattice spacing, if an isotropic action is in the QCD-phase, this does not guarantee that the anisotropic action is outside the Aoki-regime. This may be important in the tuning of bare parameters for anisotropic lattices using domain-wall and overlap fermions as well as Wilson and O(a)-improved Wilson fermions.

Using Tadpole Improved Clover Wilson Action on Coarse Anisotropic Lattices

In an exploratory study, using the tadpole improved clover Wilson quark action on small, coarse and anisotropic lattices, the ππ scattering length in the I = 2 channel is calculated within quenched approximation. A new method is proposed which enables us to make chiral extrapolation of our lattice results without calculating the decay constant on the lattice. Finite volume and finite lattice sp...

Non-Perturbative Improvement of the Anisotropic Wilson QCD Action

The simulation of charm or bottom quarks on (a sequence of) lattices with amq≪1 is currently not affordable, even in the quenched approximation. Since standard lattice actions break down when amq>1, one must design special actions to study heavy quarks. Currently two approaches are widely used: (i) Non-relativistic lattice QCD (NRQCD) [1], and (ii) the “heavy relativistic” or “Fermilab” approac...

The Schrödinger Functional for Improved Gluon and Quark Actions

The Schrödinger functional (quantum/lattice field theory with Dirichlet boundary conditions) is a powerful tool in the non-perturbative improvement and for the study of other aspects of lattice QCD. Here we adapt it to improved gluon and quark actions, on isotropic as well as anisotropic lattices. Specifically, we describe the structure of the boundary layers, obtain the exact form of the class...

Pion Scattering Length from a Coarse Anisotropic Lattice Calculation

Using the tadpole improved clover Wilson quark action on coarse anisotropic lattices, the ππ scattering length in the I = 2 channel is calculated within quenched approximation. Finite volume and finite lattice spacing errors are analyzed and the results are extrapolated towards the chiral, infinite volume and continuum limit. Comparisons of our lattice results with the new experiment and the re...

Quasi Bps Wilson Loops, Localization of Loop Equation by Homology and Exact Beta Function in the Large-n Limit of Su(n) Yang-mills Theory

We localize the loop equation of large-N YM theory in the ASD variables on a critical equation for an effective action by means of homological methods as opposed to the cohomological localization of equivariantly closed forms in local field theory. Our localization occurs for some special simple quasi BPS Wilson loops, that have no perimeter divergence and no cusp anomaly for backtracking cusps...
